How I work
Approach
Counselling with me is centred around real conversations - grounded, compassionate, and tailored to you.
Every person brings their own story, pace, and ways of making meaning. My role is to support you to feel safe, seen, and steady enough to explore what matters most. Together, we’ll find the approaches and tools that align best with you - whether you’re seeking insight, emotional relief, skills for daily life, or deeper healing.
Frameworks and tools
Here are some of the frameworks and tools that may support our work together:
Solution-Focused Therapy
We begin by exploring what’s already working - even in small ways. This approach helps us build momentum and discover practical next steps, especially if you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed.
Narrative Therapy
We take time to wonder - gently exploring the stories you hold about yourself, your past, and your future. This process honours your lived experience and helps create space for new understandings, rooted in the strengths and resources you already carry.
Trauma-Informed Practice
The nervous system holds memories and responses that words alone can’t always express. I work with awareness of how trauma may show up in the body and mind – and we’ll move at a pace that prioritises safety, trust, and emotional regulation.
Integrative Tapping
This psychosensory technique combines elements of tapping, NLP, and memory reconsolidation. It’s a simple and effective tool to help release stress, soften emotional intensity, and shift longstanding patterns – if and when you feel ready to try it.
Grief & Loss Support
Grief takes many forms – and there is no “right” way to grieve. I offer a non-judgemental space where your sorrow, confusion, numbness, or questions are all welcome. Whether your grief is recent or long-held, it’s honoured here.
Supervision & Reflective Practice
For health, education, and social care professionals, I offer culturally competent supervision grounded in safety, ethical reflection, and wellbeing. These sessions are a space to slow down, reconnect with your purpose, and navigate challenges with clarity.
Ready to begin?
You don’t need to choose a method - we’ll find what feels most natural and helpful together. Whether through talking, reflecting, tapping, or simply sitting with what is - this is your space.

FAQs
What happens in a counselling session?
Each session is a safe, supportive space to talk about whatever matters most to you. Sometimes that’s a clear issue, other times it’s a sense that something isn’t quite right. You don’t need to have all the answers. We’ll explore what’s going on, what you’d like to change, and what might help you feel more grounded, connected, or clear.
Do I need to be in crisis to see a counsellor?
Not at all. Many people come to counselling just wanting to feel better, explore something that’s been sitting with them, or gain clarity about a decision or relationship. You’re welcome wherever you are on your journey.
Will I cry? What if I don’t?
You might cry and that’s okay. You might not - and that’s okay too. There’s no “right” way to be in counselling. Some people laugh, reflect quietly, or talk through big things without tears. However you show up, you’re welcome.
Can I talk about anything?
Yes. Nothing is off-limits. Whether it’s stress, trauma, grief, identity, faith, relationships, or something you can’t yet name - this is your space to bring whatever feels real for you.
What approaches do you use?
My approach is flexible and always tailored to you. I draw on:
Talk therapy and reflective conversation
Narrative and solution-focused techniques
Trauma-informed support and integrative tapping
Grief, loss, and suicide bereavement counselling
Supervision and coaching for professionals
You can read more under How I Work.
How many sessions will I need?
Some people come for one or two sessions to get clarity. Others come regularly while navigating change or deeper healing. It’s entirely up to you. We’ll check in along the way and find the rhythm that fits best.
Do you work with all backgrounds?
Yes. I work with individuals, couples, and whānau from a wide range of cultural and religious backgrounds, as well as those with no particular faith or belief system. I have years of experience working with rainbow communities and neurodiverse individuals. You are welcome here.
