About

Kia ora, I’m Gill.

I’m a counsellor and supervisor with over 15 years’ experience walking alongside people through grief, trauma, life transitions, and deep personal change. I bring a calm, steady presence and a deep belief in your capacity to reconnect with what matters - at your pace, in your way.

My counselling journey began in schools, supporting young people and their whānau. Since then, I’ve worked in private practice, bereavement services, and university health settings. I’m a registered provider with Aoake te Rā and Gumboot Friday, and offer culturally competent supervision across health, education, and social care.

Alongside formal qualifications, my work is grounded in lived experience. I’ve walked through seasons of loss, growth, and healing - and I understand the courage it takes to ask for help. That’s why I hold space gently: never rushing, always respectful.

My approach is trauma-informed and integrative. I blend talk therapy, narrative practice, solution-focused strategies, and integrative tapping where helpful - tailoring each session to the person in front of me.

Cultural connection is central to who I am. I have Celtic roots, raised my children in the Solomon Islands, and lived for five years at Rātana Pā - a deeply formative time that continues to shape how I understand healing, identity, and belonging. I work naturally with Māori, Pasifika, rainbow communities, neurodiverse individuals, and people from diverse cultural, religious, and spiritual backgrounds.

Outside of work, I love walking with my dog, juicing, and spending time in nature. These simple rhythms keep me grounded and connected - and I encourage others to find what steadies them, too.

This work is a privilege.
If you choose to reach out, I’ll meet you with care, curiosity, and respect.
